Accredited Employer Work Visa

The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) is a temporary work visa for people who have received a genuine job offer from a New Zealand accredited employer.

It is suitable for individuals who:​

  • Have an offer of full-time employment (at least 30 hours per week) from an accredited employer, with pay at or above the market rate for the occupation.

  • Meet the skill and qualification requirements specified for the job.

  • Meet the ANZSCO or NOL skill level and qualification standards relevant to the occupation.

  • Have at least two years of relevant work experience, or hold a qualification at Level 4 or higher on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF).

  • Hold occupational registration, if required for the job.

  • If applying for a subsequent AEWV, have spent the required time outside New Zealand (normally 12 months) after the maximum previous stay.

  • Can speak and understand English. If the job’s ANZSCO skill level is 4 or 5, English proficiency must be shown by nationality or an approved English language test.

  • Are in good health, verified through a medical examination.

  • Are of good character, supported by police certificates.

  • Have a genuine reason for working and living in New Zealand.

Key Features

  • Allows you to work in New Zealand for 3 to 5 years, depending on your job and pay rate.

  • Family members cannot be included in your AEWV application. However, you may support your partner for a work visa and your dependent children for student visas once your AEWV is granted.

  • The AEWV can provide a pathway to New Zealand residence through categories such as Work to Residence or the Skilled Residence pathway.
